Day one back at home

So the run of Bank Holidays is over, everybody's back at work and I'm .... not!
The plan for the day was not to have a plan, well not much of one anyway. Get the food in after our return from Abertystwyth; sort out unpacking and then the garden, all being well with the weather.
The garden - oh for goodness sake the watering system didn't kick in - first time ever and NO rain the whole two weeks we were away and now the pots (including my retirement present ones) are wrinkled like late August! Some major revival techniques necessary and if all fails will have to replace present ones. Others - well less to move, if it ever happens, - always said I should start to empty the pots naturally, going to find it hard to look at empty pots and stop myself replenishing them. Do not look at the plant stalls at the farmer's market.

Getting dressed and thinking about being able to be spontaneous when the phone rang. I held my breath hoping it was Harrison Ingram with a house viewing but was Ralph & Bina driving up from boat trip back from Spain and fancying lunch out, great. Jeff phoned and booked Chapters, Blackheath (very upmarket) and so my first impromtu lunch out! Catch up time with Ralph & Bina

Food shopping; Sainsbury's empty and shelves full, serious improvement on usual Friday evening shopping.

Sid a bit jumpy this morning, not very suprising after his journey sitting on top of the cat basket was probably a bit tense. He seemed calm and quiet but didn't look completely relaxed, didn't make us feel tense though bless his furry socks. He did catch a few odd looks from other motorists in traffic! Otherwise it's as if he hadn't been away, sitting under the same plant, following same old routine and seeming content.

Sid's usual hiding place.
Now this is as close as it gets to a cat's life, doing whatever comes my way and pretty much pleasing myself.  For the first time in my conscious life!

Jeff got the bikes and the boat out from the shed for an airing and tidy up, made us start thinking about our first trip of the year; starting at Forest of Dean next Tuesday, whoo! He called me out into the playground at some point to listen. Listen to the sound of a school playground. No worries!

Matt called this evening, said it was strange going up to the house and we weren't there, we'd been there long enough for it to be the norm. He'd been to town and done a few bits on the boat.

So the day was: food shopping, fish lunch, gardening, Jeff's yummy squid and chorizo salad for supper then chilling with the laptop and telly.
